Dan Lane started his racing career in 2005 in the #05 Open Wheel Modified sponsored by Essex Seafood Two. The 2005 season started at New Smyrna Speedway for the 2005 Speed Week World Series. In his 2005 and 2006 seasons he raced open wheel at Orlando Speedworld, Ocala Speedway, and New Smyrna. During the 2006 he also made a transition to the dirt track at Volusia County Speedway and Putnam County Speedway in the Street Stock division.

In the up coming 2007 season Dan Lane will be getting ready to run in the 350 supermodified division at Lee USA Speedway.
